Flirty Apron Swap Vintage Linens Remix

So I was able to finish the apron at 3:00 am Sunday morning (I don't sleep much) after some issues with my rolled hem foot. I really had to fudge some with this pattern because the feedsack material was only 33-inches wide instead of 45-inches. Even though I had a full yard of the fabric, because of the pattern printed on it, I couldn't play around too much with the pattern layout to make everything fit just right. Good news is, I'm more confident on any alterations to patterns that I would need to do.

You'll have to pardon the wonky way the apron drapes-- my daughter was no where to be found when I needed a model for pictures-- and the back of the dining room chair doesn't do it justice.

I do have to say that I love this pattern, and I didn't think I would. I've got some leftover fabric from a holiday apron swap that must be used with this pattern. My favorite part of the whole thing is the pocket because it starts out as a straight piece of fabric-- which is saying something since I like plain jane pockets for the most part.

The knot of the bow has been handstitched so it won't come untied.

And what apron is complete without a little ric-rac?

It wasn't easy finding a coordinating fabric in the right color for this vintage feedsack material.

I just hope she likes it.

Apron Strings

Now that Holly has received her Mommy and Me apron set, I can share the pics that I took before boxing it up. Kidlet was my only option for a model (you wouldn't catch D dead in an apron); so ignore her flannel snowman jammies. Pictures are clickable.

This is Holly's apron. It is reversible, however there are no pockets on the reverse side. You can't really see it, but the pockets have been sewn on as diamonds with the top "point" folded down to reveal the penguin fabric. The attached buttons are for decoration only.
This is Andrew's apron. His is also reversible, but instead of making his pockets exactly like those on Holly's apron, the top portion has been folded down at an angle. Again, buttons are for decoration only.

This apron is what was sent out to my partner for the Holiday Hostess swap. I don't show that she has received the apron yet. I was so hoping that she would get it today since I mailed her apron out the same day that I sent Holly's. However, I don't want to spoil the fun, so for now she shall remain anonymous.

The fabric is black satin with gold reindeer and swirls. It was a pain to work with, and I'm not entirely satisfied with the apron itself. I may end up sending her a consolation apron after the holidays to make up for the shoddy work if I even feel that she is even remotely disappointed in what she received.

All that is left is the cookie themed apron swap that needs mailed out Monday, if I remember correctly. At least until the next one starts up again. I will be working on that apron over the long weekend, but I do have to work Friday. Bah humbug, no Christmas shopping for me.

This space for rent

I'm pimping this post out to the newest Scrap Artist designer Shane Wiggins.

Here's what I know about this dude-- Hardcore, phenomenal artist who's a total family guy as proven by the really freakin cool Buzz Lightyear room that he painted up for his oldest son. Down to earth, tattooed covered, rock and roll, concert t-shirt designing fool (if it weren't for client confidentiality, I would be dropping names of some of some of the acts that he's been designing for-- let's just say this guy is gettin some love from some very big names with some seriously cool autographed swag).

So, if you scrapbook (digital or otherwise), or even want to just add some embellishments to some pics of the kids, show Shane some love and check out his brush sets. He's got more items to come, so check back often. I'll be loading up on each and everyone of them.

Goodies in the mail

I received my aprons from the Mommy and Me swap. Both my partner and I are behind schedule, but we've been in constant communication, so neither one of us was freaking out. Holly is the best! The aprons that she made for Gator and I are absolutely adorable. Gator wouldn't take hers off all evening until I threatened what would happen if she "misplaced" it in the black hole that would be her room. Nope, she will treat her hand-made items with more care than that.

I have to say that in my email to Holly to thank for her for the gifties, I gushed. A lot. And I promised her the return favor of having her package no later than a week from today. I wasn't happy with the fabric I had originally chosen, so Monday it's off to JoAnn's to find something ab fab. I have some cute extras in mind as well.

Pictures of aprons tomorrow. (D wasn't in the mood to take photos tonight. Bah, and here I was all dolled up in makeup and crap due to volunteer time at the humane society today.)

P.S. Liz, you need to go adopt this tom cat that came in today. He's too freakin adorable. You know you want another cat.
